Q：ものとの関係性について自分をどのように分析しますか?
How do you analyse yourself in relation to things?

ものに縛られたくないので
極力引き算をしたいと思っています。
それをあえて伝えるひとに共通することは
ある意味ものに辟易したことが一度ならず複数回あった事実。

I don't want to be tied down by things.

I want to subtract as much as possible.

What is common to those who dare to tell it is

Q：作家モノと作家について
About the artist and his work

作家モノが嫌いではないのですが
あんまり近寄らず外側から見ていたいのです
もちろん今はマスプロダクツにだって
いいものはありますしね

例えばピカソやロスコが好きでも、彼らと社交したいわけではないと言う感覚

作者の方の強烈すぎる個性を自我をモノを投影して感じたくないから（笑）煩いたくないですし

I don't dislike artists's, but

but I prefer to look at them from the outside, not too close.

There are some good things out there.

It's like when you like Picasso or Rothko, but you don't want to socialise with them.

I don't want to be bothered by the strong personality of the artist, because I don't want to project their ego onto things (laughs).

それが見えすぎると「疲れ」たりしますからね。
もし疲れたのなら　モノに縛られていると同義

好きな作家モノであればあるほど
一歩二歩離れて見ます
「もの買ってくる　自分買ってくる」

自分ではなくひと買ってくる?!
わけではないですからね
もしそれが、ものではなくひとなら
人の感情がむき出されて
見ているだけできっと
疲れてしまうでしょうね

The more I like an artist's work

I take a step or two away from it.

"I'm buying things, I'm buying myself

You're not buying yourself, you're buying someone else.

It's not like that.

If it's not a thing, but a person

If it's a person and not a thing

I'm sure you'll get tired just looking at it

Q：買ったあとのものの見方は？
How do you see things after you've bought them?

買ってきて　
自分たちの暮らしらしく
落ち着けるよう空間に
あるべくしてあるように
配置していく

もうそこには
単純にものであり
人の感情には左右されない
買ってきた自分は存在するだけで
人の強すぎるエゴは介在しないとします

そうでない作家の自我を出しすぎたモノは
買ってくることはありませんね

そういう波長を歪めるモノは
家や自分たちの空間にあるだけで
気力を奪ったり結果的には
時間を奪うことに!

煩いたくないし、大変失礼な言い方ですが
患いたくもありませんね

I don't buy things that distort my wavelength.

Q：コレクターと呼ばれることに違和感？
Do you feel uncomfortable being called a collector?

コレクターですかと言われますが
同じような類を無数に収集する癖はありませんね（笑）
この世は森羅万象無数ですから
ゆえに知足ですから
ジョージナカシマならこれとこれで終わり
ピエール・スーラージュならこれとこれで
河井寛次郎さんならこれとこれで
それ以上でもそれ以下でもない。
足りたとなりますし
まさに足るを知る
空間に配置しきれないなら
買いませんしね
まさに
キリがありませんよね!

Some people ask me if I'm a collector.

I'm not in the habit of collecting countless similar objects.

The world is a myriad of things

That's why I'm a not collector.

George Nakashima would have finished with this and this

Pierre Soulages would end with this and this.

Kawai Kanjiro would be this and this.

Nothing more, nothing less.

And that is enough.

It will be exactly enough

If I can't place it in the space

I won't buy it.

What is it about objects and their sublimation into self-expression?

最近は
「　もの買ってくる自分買ってくる　」
から
「　もの作ってくる　自分作ってくる」
にもシフトしていますがwww

寛次郎先生の
「　仕事が暮らし　暮らしが仕事　」

たまの休日ぐらい、のんびりと
自分らしくしたいじゃないですか

絵を描いたり
彫刻作ったり
空間を作ったり
庭を作ったり　
そういうものを作ってくるという行為
は、
まさに自分を作ってくるという行為
なんでしょうね、
家族としたらいい迷惑なんでしょうが（笑）
娘もお世辞でたまに
「　いいねぇ　」
と褒めてくれるのが何よりのご褒美ですネ

Lately

I've gone from "I'll buy stuff, I'll buy myself stuff

"I make things, I make myself"
